MacDowell is excited to present three of Alfredo Jaar’s iconic neon installations on our historic grounds as part of the 65th Annual Medal Day celebration on Sunday, June 29th in Peterborough, NH. During the event, Chilean-born artist, architect, and filmmaker Alfredo Jaar will be honored for his outstanding contributions to American culture in the field of Visual Arts. Jaar’s work, which quotes or is inspired by writers and philosophers, uses color, light, and scale to inspire, provoke thought, and illuminate the pressing issues of our time. Jaar’s iconic neon installations will be available for viewing outside the main hall, and inside and outside of the James Baldwin Library: Be Afraid of the Enormity of the Possible, 2015; Size: 44” x 67” I Can’t Go On.
